We were DIYers before DIY was a thing

I come from a line of women who can make anything out of almost nothing. We don't hire people to do our dirty work, we do it ourselves. I grew up watching my mom, aunts and grandmas painting, sewing, refurbishing, crafting and picking up junk on the side of the road and turning it into amazing creations.

Let me tell you, if you've never been dumpster diving you haven't lived. Before dumpster diving was illegal my mom and aunt use to take us kids to Michael's to see what they had thrown out that day. Those memories are some of the best! So many times we would pull over to the side of the road to pick up an old door or cabinet and we would throw it in the back of the truck. My family has an eye for seeing gems from other peoples trash.

Yesterday I got to hang out with my aunt and cousin and we drove the valley hitting all the good places and trying out some new places. More people must be catching on because the thrift stores have really raised their prices. But we found some goodies!

headboard, chandeliers

My aunt has a good eye! She found that awesome board and had a vision right away. This is going to make an awesome headboard. Oh the plans I have!

The first thrift store we went to was not very impressive. It was way overpriced and anything that was cool was crazy expensive. As we wondered around the store I had my eye on some furniture until I ran across this chandelier. I almost died. Who could give this away! Thank you to whoever did because I can't wait to deck this thing out with jewels and gems in all of its elegant glory.

silver chandalier

I have very few secrets in my life but the store I found this beaut and the headboard project from, I'm not telling. It's going to be my dirty little secret :0) I'm telling you, my aunt has the eye. She found this for me too. My cousin and I almost had to fight over it. This chandelier reminds me of the old sterling silver trays. I'm going to have some research to do before I take the dive into fixing it up.

And my final find was at Habitat For Humanity thrift store. I wasn't to impressed with that store either. I must have had a chandelier god following me yesterday. This one looks so plain but it has a future of crystal hangings.

It was the best girls day ever! As I was unloading these I fell in love with them even more. I wouldn't of had such amazing luck without the eye of the amazing ladies that went with me.

If your interested in one of these items and have an idea for your space send me a message and I can make one of these to match your space.
