What is a sealer?
A sealer, or top coat, is a protective coating applied over the top of your painted project to prevent chipping, scratches, or fading. If you do not apply the sealer the paint will chip or scratch off easily. It will not bubble or peel because of the bonding agent in the paint.
What is the difference between wax and sealer?
Wax is applied as a sealing agent and is polished on. You can use wax on pieces that will not be getting any wear or tear. Over time you will need to reapply if you are using it as a sealer. It does not harden to create a protective layer like a sealer does.
Madame Butterfly Sealer comes in different sheens- glossy, semi-gloss and satin. It is easily brushed on in layers. This sealer provides a top coat that hardens and protects your paint for years to come.
Tips-
I recommend using 1-2 coats on any pieces that will have minimal wear and tear. When sealing the tops of tables, dressers, nightstands, or anything that you will be wiping down or putting accessories on I recommend 3-5 coats.
Sand lightly between your coats of sealer to minimize the appearance of brush strokes
Use long and consistent brush strokes
A little bit goes a long way
