Oh boy did these cabinets need an update! I am really pleased with how they turned out. I also got to snuggle sweet babies. Bonus! I'm not sure how old they were but they were in really great condition. That always makes my job easier.
This is the only before picture I was able to get because Caitie and her husband were so kind to take off all the doors for me before I got there. That's half the job right there.
We chose Hinterland Gray since they had white appliances. It was just enough contrast that it all didn't blend together but was still light enough to make the kitchen a bright area.
I'll give you a quick run down of how we makeover the cabinets
Supplies-
32 oz Hinterland Gray Chalky Paint
8 oz Espresso Antiquing Glaze
Painters tape
Large and Medium Madame Butterfly Paint&Wax Brushes
16 oz Madame Butterfly Sealer in Satin
Step 1 - Give the cabinets a good wipe down. Get off all of the grease and dirt.
-You don't have to take the cabinet doors off but you can if it is easier to get into the corners
Step 2 - Pick the best paint color for your kitchen and start painting. If you took off the doors lay them on a couple pieces of wood so they are elevated. It is easier to get around the edges that way. I used 2 coats of paint.
Step 3 - At this point you can choose to leave the cabinets a solid color, distress them or glaze them. There is no right or wrong when it comes to technique. It is a matter of preference.
Step 4 - Seal your cabinets. Madame Butterfly has a crystal clear Satin Sealer that is great for durability, long lasting results and can easily be cleaned with household cleaners.
That's it! I swear. No sanding. No stripping off the old finish. No priming. It IS truly that easy.
The proof is in the pudding and here is my pudding.
