Welcome to Funk, NE - Home of the Funky Junk Market ~ Part 1

Welcome to Funk, NE, home of 194 people. You couldn't find a better town name if you tried for Funky Junk Market! I had the great honor and pleasure of participating in Funky Junk Market alongside Carrie's Rustic Rubbish.

Coming all the way here from Gilbert, AZ was quite the culture shock. I've done it once before when I was younger. My family moved from the hugely populated town of Chandler, AZ all the way to Olivet, SD, population sign said 56 people. Living back in Arizona for so many years I forgot how lovely it was to visit small towns. And the junk! This event was overflowing with refurbished, repurposed and newly made pieces. Gorgeous hand crafted furniture, amazing antique windows with hand painted art, antiques galore, hand-crafted wine racks, painted furniture.......

The night before the event we arrived in Funk and walked the venue to get a good idea of how to set up the next morning. Tons of vendors had already set up so we got an early sneak peak. The first booth as you walked in was breathtaking. I stopped in and was greeted by the husband and wife. I was in awe of the talent, the set-up was perfect in every way and the best part - her husband was so passionate about his wife's work. He is clearly her #1 fan.

I wished I had gotten better pictures of their booth but as soon as the venue opened we were elbow to elbow with tons of people. About 1800 people to be exact. Every ones treasures were flying off the shelf left and right.

Blu Stone Designs awesome Rooster Photo Prop!
I borrowed this picture from their Facebook page. I hadn't been able to capture their booth in all of its glory before they were bought out of nearly everything.

Look at that Sugar Skull Horse design! I wanted it SOOO very badly but I waited too long trying to think of how I was going to get it back home without breaking it and it sold. I did get this beauty home safe and sound!

Isn't she beautiful! Mine all mine.

Sorella Vintage

Audra and Lexie are two Nebraska sisters who love funky junk, vintage goodies and making old things new. They are also the founders of Funky Junk Market. These two beautiful sisters were able to get 1800 people to come visit a town of a couple hundred people. It is a rarity in Arizona to get that many visitors to an event. These ladies rocked it! Beyond their awesome event planning talents they also have a flourishing business! Their barn tin letter cut outs were all the rage at the show.

Sorella Vintage showcased unique modern and vintage home decor.

These two ladies were the reason and rhyme behind Funky Junk Market. Sweet as pie too! I am so happy I got to be a part of this great day! I have more to come about my fun adventures. Until next time.....
